Santee resident Beth Selbe, 58, knows about the obstacles and challenges as a mother to a child with autism and will walk in support of the autism community on October 19 during the 11th anniversary San Diego Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Liberty Station of Point Loma Ingram Plaza at 2640 Historic Decatur Road in San Diego at 8 a.m.

The Board of Directors of the Council of Community Clinics (CCC) and its subsidiaries has named Henry N. Tuttle as its new chief executive officer. Tuttle takes the reigns of an organization that provides centralized support services to 16 member community clinic and health center organizations operating over 100 sites in San Diego, Imperial, and Riverside Counties, with several clinics in El Cajon and La Mesa.

The Power Surge softball club of San Diego sent 10 different teams to national competition this summer, but only one came away with a championship.

Bombers of Universal City, Texas, which went 10-2 in the double-elimination event at Green Valley Sports Complex.

Dr. Jeff Gray and his wife Mary (left) decided proceeds from this year’s “Smiles for Life” annual fundraiser to benefit children’s charities would go to STAR/PAL, a local nonprofit organization and San Diego Chapter of the Police Athletic League. During a recent STAR/PAL Padres baseball camp at Kuhlken Field in La Mesa, the Grays presented a check for $10,000 to Claire O’Leary (right) STAR/PAL Partnership and Resource Coordinator.
