The Home of Guiding Hands 43rd annual gala “Under The Big Top” will take place June 24 at the U.S. Grant Hotel, 326 Broadway in San Diego, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Tammy and John, hosts of the KSON morning show, will be this year’s emcees.  

Home of Guiding Hands has been committed to providing quality community support, critical housing and life-skills training for children and adults with developmental disabilities for 50 years.

The “San Diego Follies 10th Anniversary Celebration” opens June 22nd with Christian Community Theater sharing their best numbers from the past ten years. This show features talented adults ranging from 55 to 88 years young.  Some performers (Reina Bolles, Joyce Schumaker and Walter Ritter) have been professional singers and dancers for their entire careers.

The volunteer citizens group monitoring the spending of millions of dollars in public funds for new and improved patient care facilities at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa has a new member. Lindsey Ryan, the hospital’s Manager of Nursing Education and Professional Development, has joined the Independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (ICBOC).

ICBOC members are uncompensated East County residents who are charged with monitoring the expenditure of funds from the $247 million, voter-approved 2006 Proposition G bond measure.

Bastyr University announced today that it would be doubling the capacity of its clinic serving the students and their families at EJE Academies Charter School in El Cajon. This expansion is made possible by a $29,000 grant recently received from the Alliance Healthcare Foundation.

The Barona Cultural Center & Museum invites San Diego County Boy Scouts to participate in its Indian Lore Merit Badge Clinic. Scouts will engage in a day of hands-on educational activities to complete all requirements needed to earn their Indian Lore Merit badges. The event is free of charge and will be held at the Barona Community Center, adjacent to the Museum, on Saturday, May 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
