We are our own worst critic

We look into the mirror to see the same reflection every single day and wonder why we look and act the way we do. Then we begin to compare ourselves to someone who seems like they have the world – perfect face, body, success, money, friends and life. We are tired of being a Plain Jane and crave for change – change to be like “them.”

We look into the mirror to see the same reflection every single day and wonder why we look and act the way we do. Then we begin to compare ourselves to someone who seems like they have the world – perfect face, body, success, money, friends and life. We are tired of being a Plain Jane and crave for change – change to be like “them.”

It is human to compare. But why do we dwell on others’ successes and lives when we are here to live our own?

We want to create a perfect façade as if we completely have our life together, not being true to others or ourselves. Trying to adopt other people’s qualities and life styles will make you believe you are happy, but in reality, you are not.

Comparing our strengths and weaknesses with others always ends on a negative note. We begin to feel unhappy and think negatively about things in our life that are fine just the way they are. Everyone is born into different classes, cultural differences and lifestyles. Count the blessings and value the opportunities that come into your life, rather than taking it for granted.

It is important to keep in mind that nobody is perfect. Being different from others should be idealized more than blending in with everyone else.

Stop comparing yourself to others. Strive for your own success and personal growth. Remember that you are your biggest critic. You are your own individual; there should be no competition.

Now look into the mirror one more time. Do not think about the 'what ifs?' but rather the self-love and achievements that brought you here today.
